The Georgene Novelities toy company produced authorized Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for 25 years, beginning in 1938. The company lost the rights to produce the dolls of characters created by Johnny Gruelle, so, in about 1964, it offered a near-Ann and near-Andy called Georgene and George.
