Shindana created dolls in the likeness of popular television stars Redd Foxx from "Sanford and Sons," JJ Walker from "Good Times," and Marla Gibbs from "The Jeffersons." Each of these shows presented a new wave of self-authenticated Black experiences on television—encounters that participated in the dialogue happening at Shindana. The shows presented messages about unemployment, discrimination, poverty, and prejudices with the use of confrontational humor and candid commentary.
