“Robotech” was a science fiction franchise that began with an 85-episode anime television series produced by Harmony Gold USA in association with Tatsunoko Production in 1985. In the series, Robotechnology referred to the scientific advances discovered in an alien starship that crashed on a South Pacific island. “Robotech” was a space odyssey set in the future, it was three separate Japanese cartoon series combined for an audience that did not recognize the term anime, and it proved to be a soap opera that appealed to kids. Matchbox toy company produced action figures based on the series.
