Phillipa Miller wrote 'Pamela and I found we needed something to do to keep ourselves awake during the long hours of firewatching. So we decided to build a miniature house of the thirties. It might also be something to raise money for the war effort we thought.' In total £40 was raised towards the cost of building a new Spitfire for the war effort.
