In 1974, Kenner released two fashion dolls, Dusty and Skye. The dolls came with action features such as jointed wrists, moveable waists, molded hands for gripping their sports equipment, and bendable knees to enable action poses. Another feature included a spring-loaded arm action to facilitate sport themes in the doll line, such as tennis, volleyball, softball, golf, and horse-riding. The dolls hit the market shortly after Title IX of the Education Act Amendment opened-up a full range of federally-funded academic-based athletics to girls.
