In 1975, Matchbox released Suky, a pocket-size fashion doll. In their catalog, the company touted “Sulky is a beautiful, fully poseable 15 cm dress-up doll with hair you can comb and style. She can hold her plaything in her hand and comes dressed in eight different outfits.” Sulky seemed like Matchbox’s attempt to reach a new audience- little girls interested in hair play, collecting, and fashion.
