Dom Pedro I

Portrait of a half-body man, standing, with his body turned to the left and his head to the right, looking forward. In uniform, the Golden Fleece hangs around his neck and, on his chest, decorations from the Imperial Order of the Cruise, Order of Our Lady of the Conception of Vila Viçosa, Imperial Order of Peter First, Order of Carlos III and three Portuguese orders. In tow, green band edged with white on band of all orders. With his right hand he holds a book, on whose green spine the title "Constitution" is seen, supported on sheets of the newspaper "Diário do Senado" arranged on a table covered with green cloth. On the same table, a golden metal desk with white plumes in the inkwell. With his left hand, he holds the handle of the worked gold gala saber. Short, whiskered hair and golden fluff. At the bottom, on the right, a throne with gold "PI" initials on the green upholstery of the backrest. In the background, red velvet drapery leaves a free window through which the gardens of Paço da Boa Vista, with its fountain and gate, can be seen. Author's signature and date in the lower right corner, below the throne: "A. Porto Alegre pincit 1826".
Dom Pedro I (Queluz, October 12, 1798 - Queluz, September 24, 1834), the first Emperor of Brazil, from 1822 until his abdication in 1831, and also King of Portugal and Algarves as Pedro IV between March and May of 1826.
