Projeto Portinari
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Composition in shades earthy, blue, white, ochre, black, rose and yellow. Smooth texture. It depicts Don Quixote and Sancho Panza riding their horses in a dry night lanscape, with two mills. In the foreground, center, Don Quixote astride his white horse 3/4 facing left. It wears metal medieval armor and hat, also in metal, with flap horizontally. It has long, thin face, big mustaches; holds in his on the right hand a spear and has a shell stuck in his on the left arm, behind which you can see a sword fastened at the waist. The animal on which is mounted has the on the right foreleg raised, and wears harness saddle and scab. On the third level, to the right, you see Sancho Panza riding his donkey in front. It is very fat and wears a very wide-brimmed hat suggesting that Mexican. The earthy where the two figures are walking is pretty flat and barren earthy in dark tone; on the horizon, on the right, are seen two windmills. The sky is blue in tone "degrade", darkening at the top with a full moon on the right.
