Dominion Chemist Frank T. Shutt was heavily involved in the design of this chemistry building/laboratory, constructed in 1896, after the original labs burned down. This building remains part of the Farm today.The oldest lab building is still in use at the CEF.
The new laboratory was very modern and well stocked with new equipment selected by Shutt personally.
