The American Sugar Company officially became Domino sugar in 1900, and dominated the sugar industry for many years. The firm advertised its five-pound boxes of individually-wrapped sugar cubes in several ways. Around 1916 it produced a printed sheet of dominoes, playing on its own company name and the age-old game tiles. Paper dominoes were very common inexpensive playthings and this set was given away as a premium.
