The single white cotton leaf is decorated on the verso in black pen. The subject is the novel 'Don Quixote' by Miguel de Cervantes. Published in two volumes, in 1605 and 1615, Don Quixote is considered the most influential work of literature from the Spanish Golden Age.
Salvador Dalí was fascinated by this work; Don Quixote and Sancho Panza appear frequently in his art.
