The handle, body and fins of dotaku are decorated with a variety of designs. The keynote motifs of this dotaku are the saw-tooth, diagonal latticework and whirlpool patterns. Dotaku motifs are also commonly found on ceremonial earthenware or wooden artifacts and are said to have religious significance.

- Object Notes(Japanese): 一般的に銅鐸は吊り手や身、身の左右につく鰭をさまざまな文様で飾る。本例は各部を鋸歯文と斜格子文、そして渦文を基調として飾られている。銅鐸に描かれる文様は儀礼用と考えられる土器や木器とも共通するものが多く、神聖な意味をもつともいわれている。
