Hyungbae refers to an insignia, or a mark, embroidered on the chest and back of a clothing to indicate the wearer’s rank. The double crane insignia in colored threads was designated for officials of the senior third rank and above. The insignia in the picture is embroidered with twisted threads using long and short stitch and outline stitch on dark bluish-purple fabric in the pattern of cloud-treasure.
