Double-Spouted Vessel Depicting faces.

This double spouted clay vessel is typical of the Nazca culture. It has polychrome slip painting within black slip-painted outline. The vessel has twin spouts connected with a bridge. Overall beautiful polychrome surface decoration consisting of mythical animal figures rendered in rhythmic pattern. The splayed creature has multiple limbs entwined. The row of female faces is a common motif in Nazca wares. These were probably depiction of ritual masks. The whole vessel has nice vivid polychrome colours. The technique and range of colors used on this vessel marks the peak of Nazca achievements. As the number of colours used by Nazca artists is larger than that used by any other culture in the Americas before European contact.
