Pictured above is downtown Atlanta in 1987. The 1897 English American Building, more well known as the Flatiron building is pictured at left. This flatiron style building predates the more famous New York City version by seven years. At center image is the Healey building, built 1913 in the gothic revival style. Both buildings remain today and have recently undergone historic restoration. This downtown area, made up of the Fairlie-Poplar National Register Historic District, is one of Atlanta's oldest and original business districts. Fairlie-Poplar is home to Atlanta's largest collection of late 19th and early 20th century commercial buildings.
