Allison says: "It was an honor to paint Dr. Chong who has been one of the heroes on the front lines of the fight against Covid-19 in his job as Medical Director for all Critical Care Services at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in New York. In addition to all his work in the hospital, he and his wife raised money to provide food – over 4000 meals! -- from local restaurants to the busy doctors and staff at the hospital. On a personal note, I was excited to paint his portrait because Dr. Chong was my attending in the MICU at Columbia in 2004 when I was a medical resident. Not only was he one of the best attendings I had, but also he was always positive, kind and supportive. I’m so glad to be able to do something to give back to him after all he has given me, his patients, and fellow doctors and associates."
Dr. Chong says: “It’s a stunning portrait of a very chaotic and truly unforgettable time. It’s a beautiful reminder of the true value of life and breath.”
