Ellie says: "I am so honoured to have been a part of the Portraits For NHS Heroes project. When I heard Tom Croft had started this page I just had to jump on board. The NHS are doing an amazing job day and night, and we just can't thank them enough. Suraj Ubhi is the junior doctor I had the pleasure of drawing. I chose to create a black and white pencil drawing, as I find this medium to be bold and extremely striking. This effect stands out much like Suraj who risks his life, especially in these uncertain times, to help those in need. I want to say a massive Thank You to Suraj and the NHS for all your hard work, and I hope this project shows just how grateful we are to have you."
Dr. Suraj's uncle says: "This is my nephew Dr Suraj Singh Ubhi. He is a junior doctor at Milton Keynes Hospital in Bedfordshire. Having graduated not too long ago, Suraj has worked tirelessly with very sick patients with the increased risks that Covid-19 has presented with no complaints. Suraj is also a new father. Throughout the pandemic, Suraj has protected his little family and his greater family-sometimes by only sharing necessary information and allaying our fears and concerns. I am very proud of my nephew and would like to say a big "Thank You" to him and all those that serve in the NHS."
