Salamanca, Spain

Dragonfly lamp designed by Emile Gallé around 1900. During these years, Nancy glassmakers became interested in electric lighting. In 1899, Emile Gallé designed his first lamps, and around 1902, he created several of his finest models, highly accomplished and with a spectacular finish, combining glass and metal. In both form and decoration, these lamps again drew inspiration from nature. This piece is made of blown, bent, and acid-etched glass, decorated with dragonflies and floral motifs.
