LeRoy Howard worked at Parker Brothers game manufacturers in Salem, Massachusetts. He was promoted to the position of editor in 1933 by George Parker's son-in-law, Robert Barton. Howard served as the firm's only game designer and development manager for many years, and advised both Parker and Barton through the purchase and development of the game Monopoly. Howard helped develop other successes such as Clue! and Risk in later years, often relying on fellow Parker employees as play testers.
Several drawings for prototype game boards were stored with Howard's files. He may have sketched these himself, or saved submissions as examples. The "Off We Go!" travel game includes simple printed instructions.
