Employee of the Museu da República for over twenty years, Ivan Wasth Rodrigues (1927-2007) was a specialist in historical drawings, especially those of clothing, drawn from extensive research. He was also one of the main artists to produce historically-themed comics, such as the "History of Brazil in Comics" (1959) and the adaptation of Gilberto Freyre's "Casa Grande e Senzala" (1984).
