Count Wrangel died in 1676 and left Skokloster partly unfinished. His eldest daughter Margareta Juliana and her husband Count Nils Brahe took over the estate. Albeit their finances were marred by the forced reduction of land and property that took place in 1680 they tried to entertain the house and park. This drawing was most probably commissioned by Nils Brahe in the 1680’ or 1690’s. If the design was fulfilled or not, is not known. One indication of it not being realised is the inscription on the drawing: “received by Spijler’s widow”.
