A mid-calf length navy blue silk faille dress with light blue silk embroidery; unconstructed silhouette with wide jewel neck; embroidered design of machine couched silk floss worked in triangles, diamonds and reversing curves down the front bodice; front shoulder areas of upper bodice further embellished with rows of six self-fabric covered buttons and braided cord loops at each side; dropped armholes; long straight unfitted sleeves with six bands of faggoting hand worked in light blue plied silk in the lower portion of each sleeve; skirt front decorated with applied diamonds of self-fabric finished with long and short alternating buttonhole stitches in black silk floss; diamonds attached overlapping end-to-end by just the top points; weights attached inside skirt front under the applied diamonds; deep tucks at each side seam stitched down above hemline; rows of six self-fabric covered buttons over a line of couched black silk floss extend up from the hem over the secured portion of the tuck; two large box pleats inserted into the back panel of the dress; top portions of the pleats are stitched down with couched black silk floss to below waist level; two belt options: one a band of pleated and topstitched (couched black silk floss) self-fabric with oppositely overlapping extensions marked with two self-fabric covered buttons; the other is a sash of knotted self-fabric bias cording finished with three long black silk tassels at one end.
