Day dress of floral printed twill weave wool challis; multi-colored trailing flowers on a deep royal blue ground; fabric 22" wide; fitted bodice with band collar, sloping extended shoulders and pointed center front waist; two bust fitting darts extend diagonally up on each side of center front seam; long bell-shaped sleeves with short cap over-sleeves; sleeve and over-sleeve end in a scalloped edges finished with a narrow blue silk binding; shoulder, armscye, sleeve and waist seams piped with same blue silk; blue silk piping also applied to back bodice creating the illusion of princess seaming; floor-length six panel skirt (three loom widths front and three loom widths back) gathered in at waist with three rows of visible shirring; cartridge pleated attachment to bodice waist edge; center back dress opening extends 10 ¼" into skirt; bodice fastened with 17 brass hooks and eyes-no fasteners associated with skirt opening; bodice lined with glazed plain weave tan colored cotton fabric; cellulose nitrate boning in applied casings of same fabric; sleeves lined and hem faced with glazed plain weave blue cotton; dark brown glazed cotton pocket in proper right side front skirt seam; all seams hand stitched.
