This is a long narrow drum with a diaphragm both ends. Made by young men from the wood of the "Mwenjenje" tree, which is cut with an axe and the inside hollowed out with the tool called "This". The diaphragm is usually of goat skin. The thonging carries the drum and woven from the leaves of the 'Kikuyu" tree. It is used by the tradition dancers from Mufo village, young men use it to dance a dance called Mwinziro which is danced by the young men and girls. Mwinziro is a special dance performed when there is good harvest.
