Duster

Chimichu, also referred to as jangmokbi, is a duster. It is used to clear away dust from goods and furniture and to sweep a room. It was suitable for clearing dust accumulated at places beyond reach by hand. Most dusters were made by gathering and tying together pheasant feathers. Feathers are placed into a net and tied together before being attached to a handle, and the handle was carved into the shape of number 8 with notches. Since bird feathers are light and aesthetically pleasing, the duster also served as decoration when hung up on the wall.
