Wu Jian’an combines line sketches with hollow-styling in shadow puppetry, enabling traditional artistic style to blend perfectly with western anatomical style and contemporary art aesthetics. Shadow puppetry, a form of folk tradition that is on the verge of extinction, is given prominence in this contemporary visual work. It can be defined as a stylistic experiment to morph, namely transform and reinvent shadow puppetry.
