Designed for composition, orchestration, and live performance—the Audity belongs to a second-generation of integrated systems known as digital-analog hybrid synthesizers. Comprised of a synthesizer, computer, console and controller—this instrument was one of the first of its kind to include digital control of its analog sound producing and modifying components. Originally created for the German electronic music group Tangerine Dream, the Audity never went into production due to its size and lack of funding—and remains to this day a one-of-a-kind prototype.
