This volume was published in 2019 in celebration of the 300th anniversary of Thomas Chippendale's birth in 1718. It reproduces all 147 surviving drawings for the first edition of The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director, published in 1754, together with the 13 published plates for which the drawings do not survive. The text includes essays by Morrison Heckscher, former Chairman of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, David Linley, 2nd Earl of Snowdon, and Femke Speelberg, Associate Curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints, Metropolitan Museum. The book was published and printed by Thornwillow Press to the same size and format as the original.
