One of the earliest photographs in colour of the gold depicting the gold foil sceptre and other gold foil fragments excavated from Mapungubwe Hill in 1933, taken by Dr Roger Pearson from the Pretoria Mint. Pearson was the first to examine the gold for its gold content of almost 24ct and investigated the golds first manufacture. This is a digital print reproduced from an original glass slide, dated about 1933.
