This earring comes from Fuentes de Aquillán in Ibieca, Huesca—an enclave that outlived the Roman Empire, as shown by artifacts found there that have been linked to the Hispanic Visigoths. The earring is made of embossed gold and precious stones. It consists of a hanging ring with a ball attached that has several quadrilateral faces with embossed decoration. The cabochons or polished stones were inlaid in the gold by creating a flat-bottomed hollow into which the stones were set.
