Eastern Woodlands/Great Smoky Mountains Diorama

The setting for this diorama is Porter's Creek, Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina. Background artist Kent Pendelton struggled with the distortion created by the trees going all the way up the curved dome of the background wall. He hid it well looking at the camera view, but if you stand to the side of the diorama and look up, you can see the trees bend forward at a sharp angle .
