Silk and metallic thread embroidery on red silk velvet; central figure of St. Peter is worked in silk floss on a plain weave linen ground fabric; this embroidered slip was cut out and appliquéd on the velvet ground fabric over an appliquéd silk and metallic fabric nimbus; an appliquéd circular frame of gold and silver silk and metallic thread fabrics surrounds the figure; beyond this are appliquéd arabesque floral and foliate forms filling the rectangular field around the central medallion; the whole is framed by a narrow border containing serpentine floral and foliate forms also appliquéd in gold and silver silk and metallic thread fabrics; all appliquéd fabric forms are bordered with laid and couched red silk cord; over this are laid and couched metallic threads; laid and couched metallic threads are also used in completing linear components of the design.

St. Peter is holding a key and a book. This panel would have been stitched to the lower part of a dalmatic.
