Eclipse

Said Dokins explores the many potential definitions of a city such as Vienna by inviting passers-by to define or share their own experiences in a single word. Dokins incorporates each word provided by the public into his mural intervention, creating a collective definition of Vienna from the multitude of definitions, encrypted in his personal calligraphic style.

In this work, Dokins demonstrates that there is no single vision of a city or the world, and that reality is not inherently unique. Rather, art has the power to articulate and harmonize the many voices and perspectives that make up our reality. By showcasing this polyphony in his work, Dokins highlights the agency of art to create a more nuanced and inclusive understanding of our surroundings.
