The city of Freyburg an der Unstrut in Germany issued a series of emergency banknotes in the 1920s based on a folktale called “Landgraf werde hart”, i.e. Landgrave, become hard. This motif is the second of the series were a group of nobles take arms against Landgrave Ludwig II.
