Buildings 10 and 12, the first two buildings of the Edison Machines Works in Schenectady. Edison purchased the property in June 1886. The factory opened in October 1886, and employed 300 by December. In 1892 the facility became known as the General Electric Schenectady Works after the merger between Edison General Electric and Thomson-Houston.
