Shortly after Ninette’s death, Beatty began a new chapter in his life with a permanent move to London. In 1913 he married Edith Dunn, from New York, who shared Beatty’s appreciation of art and collecting. The family set sail for a lengthy holiday in China and Japan in 1917, during which time Beatty built up a sizeable East Asian collection.
