A Precisionist view from the deck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, this painting was created over a decade after the tragic wreck on the night of November 10, 1975. Edmund Lewandowski had been commissioned in 1958 to paint the construction of the ship: this forged a strong connection between the two, and Lewandowski painted a near-photographic memory of the ship.
