Autograph Album Edward N. Hallowell (1836-1871)

This album contains the autographs of abolitionist men and women, both black and white, collected during the 1870s and 1880s. For this collector, these abolitionists carried a degree of celebrity for their work to bring about the end of slavery and, for many of them, for their continued work as community leaders, women's rights advocates, and civil rights champions well into the closing decades of the 19th century.
