The SNFCC’s Planted Roofs are filled with bright five-pointed stars, a familiar Christmas motif, which, however, traces its roots to antiquity, having been used by many different cultures, always marking positive values such as wisdom and hope. Also familiar to all of us is the faith that the wish we make when we see a falling star will come true. The shape of each star is actually deconstructed, broken into smaller pieces. It is only completed when the viewer moves to the right spot.
Walking along the path across the Planted Roofs, stars form and then dissolve again, one after another, as the different pieces comprising them are visually assembled and disassembled depending on the specific perspective of each viewpoint. The work EFCHI [wish] is a light installation that invites us to explore the magic of perspective, as we enter a landscape of harmony, hope and warmth. The fragments that become aligned seem to make a promise that the scattered pieces will be joined together, and everything will eventually fall into place at the right time. The installation uses simple geometry rules to offer an experience that is both aesthetic and emotional, a visual play that may give rise to an optimistic thought. Environmentally friendly practices were used to create the installation, in order to avoid light pollution and high energy consumption.
EVERYTHING Works is a group of creative people who are active in many different disciplines, although they first met in theater. The group consists of interior architect Tzanos Mazis, set designer, costume designer and fashion designer Matina Megla, lighting designer Semina Papalexandropoulou, and visual artist, set designer and video designer Eleni Stroulia. The work EFCHI [wish] was selected by the SNFCC after an open invitation to individual artists or artistic groups based in Greece.
