The title and theme refer to a myth often represented in arts, the abduction of the sabine women, which tells of when roman soldiers robbed women from other group to birth their children in the early days of Rome. This piece specially quotes Jacques Louis David painting 1799 “The intervention of the sabine woman”. Favela's painting situates the action in the city of Puebla and turns the sabine women into chinas poblanas.
