"I remember thinking that my Abuelita, my grandmother had to be a witch. She spoke a magical language that I had not heard anyone else speak in my life. As I was creating this piece I imagined a magical place thick with plants, animals and mythical creatures just out of view. It reminded me of a walk I took with my Abuelita in Puerto Rico.
This artwork is named after El Yunque National Forrest in Puerto Rico the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest system. At 29,000 acres it is considered small but is the most biologically diverse according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service. If you ever visit Puerto Rico go to El Yunque, I am sure you will feel the magic!" -Maria Campagna
