London, United Kingdom

This door knocker is an elaborate piece of blacksmith work. Made of cast iron, a mold was made in the desired shape and the molten iron poured in. The church of St Michael and All Angels is a relatively modern church. It was built in 1812-14 by French and American prisoners of the Napoleonic Wars with France and the 1812 War with the United States, who were held at Dartmoor prison.
