The Video Buddy Interactive Video Play System is an educational accessory that teaches children through the use of interactive video programs. Released in 1999 by the Interactive Learning Group, the Video Buddy is a kid-sized handheld controller with five multicolored buttons, which attaches to a television via a simple suction cup. The system works with specially encoded videotapes, many of which contain licensed characters such as Jim Henson's Muppet Babies and Paddington Bear. Throughout the show, a "Video Buddy" appears on the screen and will ask children to respond to questions about what they've seen. Correct answers are applauded and praised.
