The young Beethoven considered Eleonore von Breuning to be the loveliest girl in Bonn. In 1802 she married Beethoven's best friend, the doctor Franz Gerhard Wegeler. Both remained faithful to Beethoven throughout their lives, although Beethoven did not always make it easy for them.
