Howdah is a wooden seat affixed on an Elephant for seating purposes. Such Howdahs were used to carry wealthy nobles to warfare, ceremonies and processions and hunting, and were decorated with textiles like satin and velvet as and tassels.

This Howdah has an elevated seat and carving done in the form of fish and lion. There are circle shaped clamps fixed on it on lower part, the clamps help to hold the harness tightly. Such Howdahs having two seats were used by rulers primarily, ruler occupied the first seat and his attendant or guard sat behind him.
