Nowy Teatr and director Krzysztof Warlikowski presented Elizabeth Costello, a theatrical exploration inspired by J.M. Coetzee’s works Elizabeth Costello, A Slow Man, and Moral Tales. Centering on Coetzee’s enigmatic literary alter ego, Elizabeth Costello, the production examined art’s capacity to address moral and existential dilemmas. Through philosophical reflections on social justice, environmental responsibility, and human suffering, Warlikowski crafted a profound meditation on the artist’s role in an imperfect world, blending literature, theatre, and moral inquiry into a haunting and thought-provoking performance.
