Dr. Elnora Gilfoyle
Occupational Therapy Educator
1933 -
INDUCTED 1996
Dr. Elnora Gilfoyle’s interests in art, science and social services led her to pursue a career in occupational therapy. Her mission has been to help people retain their dignity by emphasizing ability rather than disability.
During the 1970s, Gilfoyle helped draft the law that ensured that children with special needs had the same right to an education as all other children. She became a professor and head of the Occupational Therapy Department at Colorado State University in 1981, and she was appointed provost and academic vice president in 1992
“We cannot function alone. Everyone supports each other, and everyone has their own roles.”— Dr. Elnora Gilfoyle
