Nayarit male and female seated figures, Late Formative period, the female kneeling on her left leg and holding a bowl on the thigh. Her head resting on the right hand which is held to her raised right knee, wearing smooth head-band, beaded waist band over the loin-cloth, and nose ring. The male figure with arms crossed and resting atop his raised knees, wearing elaborate head-band with projections above and at the sides. There are long tassels down the back of his neck, and crescentric nose ornament. Both have large earrings, diseased mouths, and ornately painted in dark brownish-orange, ochre, black, and white geometric designs.
