This elegant, hip-long corset is made out of lightweight, machine-embroidered cotton toile. It has two garters of light blue satin with doublelayered elastic band incorporated at the front centre and accentuated by bows. In back it is patent laced and the front has a mechanical closure. A scalloped trim decorates the upper edge and the front centre is adorned with another bow. The nearly straight, crafted blank billet (planchette) is drawn downward to restrain the belly and push the chest forward, thus achieving the S-shaped sans ventre silhouette popular around 1900.
