Emperor Charles V is shown in the magnificent suit of armour from Augsburg that he wore at the battle of Mühlberg. At the bottom right is the corresponding close helm with red plume. Red was the colour of the Burgundian standard. Karl wore this colour at the battle of Mühlberg. The baton identifies him as commander. On his chest he wears the imperial Order of the Golden Fleece.
